Forest Side Hotel |
 |
| Family Run Hotel With A Warm Friendly Atmosphere |
|
If you are looking for bed and breakfast in Grasmere then Forest Side is the perfect choice. Forest Side, a traditional stately home built by the Earl of Lonsdale in 1853 reflects the style and seclusion of the era, with a unique elegant interior and magnificent views over some of the Lake District's most popular hills.
The staff make every effort to make Forest Side somewhere
to relax, indulge and de-stress. Many of our guests return
again and again...
Holding a much envied position on the lower
slopes of Butter Crag, a short stroll away from the bottom
of our sweeping private driveway lies Grasmere, the village
that gave Wordsworth his inspiration. From the creative
romantic to the serious fell walker, there is a side of Grasmere
that everyone can fall in love with.
Warning - you may not want to leave!

|
Forest Side is set in 42 acres of landscape and wooded gardens, which are home to deer, Herdwick sheep and lambs, red squirrels, a badger sett and of course rabbits.
Once inside, you will be greeted by a warm friendly smile, and in cooler weather, an even warmer roaring log fire of which there are four regularly lit.
A guest of the long-standing house of Forest Side has the choice of three large lounges to relax, unwind and enjoy a drink, in the company of new friends and old. Our comfortable bar lounge with views of the surrounding fells is the ideal location to sit and enjoy a selection of home cooked foods from our Bistro menu. |
|
Sweep up our grand staircase to find a range of rooms from singles to twins to four posters. Alternatively, a short walk back down the drive brings you to Grasmere Lodge, where our self catering accommodation and some standard hotel rooms are to be found. |

| Shelly, Dave and the family look forward to welcoming you! |

Joan and I stayed at forest Side in November, just as the leaves were changing colour and falling from the trees, the colours in the garden were amazing and the location is just so relaxing.
shelly, Dave and the staff certainly know how to look after their guests and we were extremely sad to leave when the weekend was over. Although we tend to stay in our caravan most of the year we have been persuaded that this is a place we will return to again and again, with such a history steeped building, beautiful surroundings, and so much to explore in the surrounding area it certainly will be somewhere that we feel sure will become a second home to us.
Occasionally throughout the year the Hotel is host to murder mystery weekends which we believe are extremely successful events. Joan and I will certainly be visiting the Hotel during one of these events, or more, to see if we have learnt anything from watching the CSI programs. Hopefully we will be able to work out who done it before all is revealed at the end of the weekend.
A very big thanks to Shelly, Dave and the staff and family at Forest Side for a most enjoyable relaxing holiday, we look forward to seeing you all again soon! |

:Great staff and Hotel
The hotel was lovely, the staff were so helpful and friendly and the 4 poster room was so beautiful. We had an evening meal on the first night and it was fabulous. We will definitely be returning to the Forest Side and highly recommend it to anyone. It was so peaceful and we were looked after so well. The bonus was the 3 cats that I made friends with in the garden. Once again, many thanks for a lovely stay.
-----------------
This is the hotel with the best location in Grasmere. It is surrounded by beautiful woodland and we saw deer & badgers. The hotel has a large car park and the building is very attractive.
A lot of restoration work has been undertaken. Service in the hotel is excellent - all staff are friendly and helpful. Shelly and Dave are cheerful and helpful hosts - they could not do enough to make us feel comfortable.
Our room overlooking the garden was lovely - no problems at all.
The breakfast is great. The Bistro is good - plenty of choice.
If you want to chill out this is the place to be!
This hotel is a hidden gem!
-----------------
This was our third stay at Forest Side, Dave and Shelly never let us down we always get a warm welcome and make our stay very enjoyable. |
