Camping Washing Machine
A great Innovation by Paul and Wendy of

Caravan Advice - DIY - Feedback - Handy Hints - Maintenance - Miscellaneous - Your Questions
This year we were away for four weeks in the caravan experiencing the true meaning of caravan touring, we stayed in Cornwall, Devon and Dorset and didn't do bad for the weather either.
One of the things that no one likes to do whilst on holiday is the washing, especially considering the price of washing whilst at campsites, we have looked at the little electric machines at the camping shop and thought that they only looked good enough to wash a couple of t-shirts, I set about creating our own washing machine from an Aquaroll water butt.
Camping Washing Machine
I took a 29 litre Aquaroll and cut a rectangle hole in the side of it, then from an old stainless steel bin I cut a piece of metal just over the size of the hole and crimped all the edges over to stop sharp edges, Wendy then attached a rubber seal to the panel made from a door seal rubber from an old washing machine door. Then we took the plastic paddles from the inside of the old machine and using screws from the outside fastened them to the inside of the Aquaroll, the stainless steel panel was then bent to shape around the barrel and is held in place by two bungee cords that go around the outside. It works absolutely brilliantly, simply add a few kettles of hot water and washing liquid then another couple of kettles of cold and pop all your washing in and take it for a walk, slide the panel an inch or two to drain then refill at the cold tap and take for another little walk to rinse the clothes through, you can also just stand there and swing it from side to side or cheat like I did one day by popping it on the tow hitch and driving around the campsite to the other campers amusement.
