There are three types of mastic used in caravans,

  • Acrylic compounds should last about 12 years,
  • Oilbased are more common and should last about 6 years,
  • silicone based sealants will last about 20 years  

If you attempt to reseal your caravan yourself you must ensure that you remove all of the old mastic and clean all surfaces thoroughly.

  Always Check your caravan out with a Damp Meter
